The mung or moong bean (also known as green gram or golden gram or pesalu in Telugu) is the seed of Vigna radiate. Green mung beans are small, cylindrical beans with a bright green skin. Green mung bean sprouts are frequently used in recipes, but you can also eat the beans themselves. They are a good source of several different nutrients, and you can add them to stir fries, soups and stews.

Health benefits

Calories, Fat, Cholesterol and Sodium
One serving, or slightly over 100 g, of mung beans contains 330 calories, which is about 16.5 percent of your daily recommended calorie intake, based on a 2,000-calorie diet. This serving size contains 1 g of total fat, which is about 1.5 percent of the daily value (DV), 0.5 g of saturated fat, which is about 2.5 percent of the DV, and virtually no trans fat or cholesterol. The sodium content is 25 mg, which is 1 percent of the DV.
Carbohydrates and Fiber
Each serving of mung beans contains 60 g of carbohydrates, which is 20 percent of the DV. It contains 15 g of dietary fiber, or about 60 percent of the DV.
